Doubles Draw is released for the US Open! Mark and Daniel are seeded 2nd in their final grand slam tournament together. They will face Marcos Baghdatis and Stanislas Wawrinka in the first round. Lets wish them all well in their final tournament together before the Masters Cup. A title would be a nice cherry on top of a fantastic career together!
P.S. And for those of you asking who Mark will partner in the fall, all I can say is that is for Mark to announce whenever he feels it is the right time.
Webmaster meets the Knowles family! I was there from Tuesday-Friday and had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Mark, Dawn, Graham, and some of Dawn’s relatives. They were all very generous and kind and it was great to meet them. Mark and Dawn gave me a ticket to a night session and three fantastic shirts; a Doubles Rules, Knowlzee Knocks Em, and a Cincinnati shirt that was given to the players! In exchange, I gave them a photo book of Mark, a coloring book of Mark playing tennis, and photos from the first few days in Cincy. It was so terrific meeting all of them and I was grateful to be able to meet with Mark and have him sign some stuff for the website contests and also chatting with Dawn who was as sweet as can be. And their son is one of the most adorable kids I have ever seen! Here are some photos from the experiences!
Mark and Daniel lost the rematch of the French Open final in the quarterfinals in Cincinnati to Dlouhy and Vizner 6-4, 7-5. It was a tough match to watch as I was there doing all I could do to show my support. They did not give up without a fight as they broke back in the 2nd after losing their first service game in that set. They move on the the US Open now and it will be their final tournament together. They will then go their separate ways until the Masters Cup at Shanghai, where they have qualified due to winning the French Open
Mark and Daniel moved on to the quarterfinals after defeating Matkowski/Fyrstenberg in the 2nd round at the Cincinnati Masters 7-6, 6-4! The first set was very tight but Knowles and Nestor pulled it out and then got a break midday through the 2nd set.
Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett were too strong and used solid serving to defeat Mark and Daniel 7-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals at the Rogers Cup. Mark needs three wins to reach the tremendous milestone of 600 wins. He will look to achieve that in Cincinnati with Daniel.
