Mark’s partner for 2008 is Mahesh Bhupathi, of India. Bhupathi has won ten grand slam titles, including four in men’s doubles. He turned pro in 1995 and he won his first title in 1997 at Chennai, partnering Leander Paes. Later that year, Bhupathi became the first Indian born player to win a grand slam, capturing the mixed doubles title at the French Open. His partnership with Paes continued to grow and be successful, and the team became the first duo to reach all four grand slam finals in one year in the open era in 1999. They won the French Open and Wimbledon that year. They also achieved the world #1 ranking in doubles. His partnership with Paes during the 2006 season ended and Bhupathi has since bounced around with a few partners. He won two titles in 2007, including the Montreal Masters, before undergoing back surgery in the fall. Hopefully, he and Mark prove to be a winning combination in 2008 and both players believe they will be.
